Random Acts of Kindness 2023-2024
January 1, 2024
I would like to thank Brayden Tarbox for nominating me for the Random Act of Kindness. I watched Brayden when he was 9 months old up till June 2023. Every holiday party Brayden’s family would make Buffalo Chicken Dip, my favorite. Brayden was so thoughtful to think of me during the Christmas season. Brayden gets his thoughtfulness from his parents that go above and beyond with everything they do. It wasn’t just dip they brought . I Received homemade cookies and gifts. Thank you again Brayden and family. I Love you all.

Lauren M. has been such a help and angel. A broken leg makes even the easiest tasks difficult. By taking my garbage and recycling bins to the curb and then back to the garage, gives me one less thing to worry about. Thank you Lauren.

Imagine our surprise when our doorbell started ringing and ringing! When I answered the door, no one was there! I looked out and saw a big covered pan sitting on our front porch. To our surprise it was a pan of homemade lasagna made especially for us by our granddaughter Charlotte! What a fantastic surprise! Not only is lasagna our favorite, but we know it was made for us by her loving hands. We were so grateful and can’t wait to come up with something special for someone else so we can pass it on. What a lovely gesture done under the guidance of Mrs. Kusche.
Thank you Charlotte

Chase donated clothing, socks, underwear, slippers, and a target gift card to my 7 year old son after we had a house fire last week. Zachary loved the card Chase drew for him, he said, “he even drew me a beautiful Christmas tree!” Zachary was so excited to open the clothes, read the card, and receive the gift card- he said, “wow mom, this is awesome- this is so nice”
It is really hard for me to put into words how this Random Act of Kindness has helped Zachary during this time- and I would like you to all know how grateful Zachary and I am for you.

Dear Mrs. Kusche
Nate, was being very kind to me and my friend during a sleepover we had this weekend he had got us popcorn and hot cocoa after we had helped my mom with the barn, also being nice by doing that too. Please give Nate a warm happy and joyful day at school for being very kind to his friends and family over the holidays. One more thing Nate wanted me to write his tag number at the end and my name. Mrs. Kusche's 4th grade class snuck down to our kindergarten classroom and left us sweet notes of holiday cheer along with fun candy canes. When my students came back from their lunch, they were shocked and excited to receive such a great surprise! We have brainstormed ideas of how we can keep the kindness moving forward and we'll be implementing our random act of kindness very soon. Thank you Mrs. Kusche's class for such a kind gesture - it meant the world to my kindergarten students. You're the best!

Random Acts of Kindness 2022-2023
December 24, 2022
Evan stopped by Anthony's apartment to let him know he was thinking of him this Christmas Season. Anthony has special needs and doesn't have extra money. His companion is his cat Tiger. Evan brought Anthony a $10 gift card to his favorite store, Stewart's. Additionally, Evan used his artistic skills to draw a picture of Anthony's cat. Unfortunately, Anthony doesn't have access to the internet and can't write this himself. However, the act of kindness will be passed along.

Elena shoveled her elderly neighbor's pathway last snow storm but our neighbor does not use the internet as she is almost 90 years old. She also donated $25 of her Christmas money to a family in need. Her friend from cheer just lost her mother a couple days ago. So Elena donated her piggy bank money to help buy food gift cards for their family during this difficult time.

Alex D. plays Little League baseball. As he has outgrown his uniforms and baseball cleats from year to year, he has chosen to donate them to a specific younger boy who loves to play. His donation has eased the burden to his single mother. In addition, he has donated his good or new condition clothing to this same young boy without being asked. He has done this each year for the past three years. This single mother has expressed sincere appreciation. His family must be very proud and rightfully so.

I was the recipient of a random act of kindness when a young girl saw me on Friday as I was checking to see how much snow had fallen and had to be shoveled. She came to my door and explained she was participating in random acts of kindness and offered, with the help of her father,
to shovel my walk and driveway. I was stunned but gladly accepted her offer, especially as it is sometimes difficult for me to clear these areas of snow. They worked until both areas were cleared but left before I could thank them.
I wish I knew the girl's name as I'm sure she's from my neighborhood (I live on Springhurst Dr).
I will look for an opportunity to forward an act of kindness and pass on the tag.
I want you and your class to know how much I appreciated this act and to congratulate you on encouraging your students to perform these unselfish acts. Thank you, again.

What fun to see Owen Z's smiling face when he popped over to say "surprise!", bearing a beautiful tin of delicious brownies. It had been a long and challenging workday, instantly made better by an impromptu brownies-and-milk break, plus some playtime for Owen and Leo.
We also enjoyed reading about prior acts of kindness and had a lot of fun thinking of how we can brighten someone's day next.

The other evening I found a wonderful surprise on my doorstep from my sweet neighbor, Emily. This RAK made me feel so warm inside - a special thought from a special girl. We have known Emily since her family moved in next door and we have watched her grow into a loving young lady. I knew right away that the words she wrote in the card were genuine. What she doesn't know, is that the card says my favorite word, "joy". For me, joy is a feeling that touches my heart and Emily's gift brought me a wonderful sense of joy. I am looking forward to seeing how far your class spreads joy in the hearts of others!
Thank you!

What a wonderful idea, kudos to you Mrs Kusche for this. My very good neighbor are Laura and Jeremiah Mikulec and their two sons. Lucas has very graciously chosen me to receive a random act of kindness.
Tomorrow he will come over to my yard and pick up all the branches and windfall. This is a tremendous help to me tho not by any means a first. Luke, Sam and their father help me with many things thru out the year from cleaning the yard to shoveling snow. I don’t even have to ask. After a snowstorm I look out my window and my walk is shoveled and paths are cleared around my yard for my dogs. Truly I could not find better neighbors and Luke is a very helpful special boy.

On behalf of the East Greenbush Fire Company I want tell you how much your random act of kindness meant to us. This time of year is often the hardest on first responders. Fires, car accidents, EMS calls and time away from our family are especially difficult during the holidays. Our plate of treats was shared and enjoyed by all our members there that evening. We all wish to thank you for thinking of us!

What a wonderful treat it was, for Albany Braces- East Greenbush, to be the recipients of a "Random Act of Kindness" from Ashlyn S, Mrs. Kusche's 4th grade class.
Kindness always makes a difference and we truly appreciate the treats you brought us. To use your own birthday money, is such a generous gesture.
Thank you so very much!
Wishing you all the best~

I was very happy when I answered the door and my neighbor a few doors down stood there with a beautiful gift bag that said Joy and she handed it to me with a lovely scented candle and a beautiful package of holiday napkins. It made me very happy that my neighbor chose me to pass this onto and I am excited to choose what to put in the bag and pass it on to another neighbor. What a great project you’re doing with your class. My daughter used to teach at Green Meadow. What a great project! And sharing of holiday joy! Merry Christmas!

What a wonderful surprise to find my neighbor at my door one evening with a gift and your tag. Such a wonderful project. But it was more to me than just the gift. I invited my neighbor in and we chatted at length, something we hadn't done in a very long time.
This holds a special place in my heart because I was a 4th grade teacher at Green Meadow and worked with Mrs. Kusche! Thank you for initiating this kindness. I am "paying it forward" today.
Happy Holidays to you all!

I just received a RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS from the one and only, Eve Rumpf! She is the most kindest little girl that I know! She did this random act of kindness at the time that I needed it most; when I was taking care of my mother who suffers from dementia. Eve knows that this is a very stressful time for me and she usually comes over to help me with different activities. Today, she put a smile on both of our faces!

Yesterday, after the huge storm we got . Sophia and her dad came over to dig us out. Every time I peaked out the window, she was doing something different. She cleaned the mailbox, took a broom to my car and cleared our doorway. Before they were done, she even took a lesson on how to use the snow blower from her dad. Sophia never fails to amaze us. We are happy with all our grandchildren.

Our Christmas angel came into our lives on December 23rd! We always knew how special she was.
Sophia has always exhibited a kind, caring, and compassionate way about her.
So we were not surprised to see her outside helping her dad shoveling our driveway and cleaning her grandfather’s car. It was freezing and her cheeks were rosy but nothing stopped her until the work was done.
That’s our Sophia! She’s always ready and willing to help others.
We are truly blessed!

Random Acts of Kindness
2018-2019
March 8, 2019
In December, I received a random act of kindness from Mr. Romanowski's class. They sent us holiday cards that were hand-colored and had candy! Last week, my students and I "paid it forward" by helping to make quilts that will go to sick kids, or kids who just really need something beautiful to snuggle in because they are having some hard times. We had fun drawing AND helping others.

We were blessed enough to receive the most lovely Random Act of Kindness from Addy Panasci. To give a little background to better understand just how grateful we are....on Sunday, we received sad news which consumed quite a bit of our week, so we were struggling to get into the spirit of Christmas. We are an American family who live in the U.K.; we have been here for 10+ years now. We will often be missing family and friends at this time of year in any case, however this year even more so especially following our sad news. Then completely out of the blue on Friday, we received a huge box of american goodies to enjoy...I cannot express the feeling of happiness felt. In the box were all of our favourite items with the most touching note to say Addy was hoping these items would remind us of being home in the US. This box of kindness brought such heartfelt tears to us, it was absolutely perfect for when you are missing all of our family and friends this holidayseason. We cannot thank you enough as you have made our season... just to be thought of, let alone to be blessed enough to receive all of the sweet treats & with that postage !! Happy Holidays To Addy and your whole classroom as I read all of the other messages....everyone is doing a brilliant job and huge kudos to you as the teacher and role model!! Dear Mrs. Kusche,
Sorry it took me a week to write something. Last week on Friday, Mason, our 9 year old neighbor and his father visited my husband with the gift of kindness. Mason’s visit was such a wonderful thing for us that we still talk about it. Last year my husband Richard had a plane crash accident and he still tries to recuperate. It’s been very hard 14 months for us and when we’ve got this wonderful visit from them and were told that Mason was worried that my husband couldn’t walk with Rex, our german shepherd dog that meant so much to us. That was so wonderful to learn that young children care. The world will always be better with children like Mason. Thank you so much for this very special project. Happy Holidays!

It snowed yesterday, and I did not clean my driveway because I thought it was going to rain.
Today, the snow on my driveway had turned to ice, so I was afraid to walk on it.
Luckily, my grandson, Daniel came to my rescue. After school he stopped at my house and broke up the ice and shovled it away.
Now, I can walk to get my mail, and take little dog, Scooby for his walk.
This is a great lesson for the children in your class. Random acts of kindness make the world a better place.

My family went away for the weekend and had to leave our garbage can in the road. We returned last night to find our garbage can on the side of the house and a large package from LL Bean brought in for the weekend and kept safe by our dear neighbor Hailey Koshykar!

Yesterday morning I was pleasantly surprised when I pulled up to the Starbucks drive-thru to pay for my Coffee to find that the person in front of me had paid for my Coffee. It was the best way to start off my day (especially because it was a much earlier start than normal, I needed that coffee ;) )! It brought a smile to my face, and at the window i was handed Card #26.
I will be sure to keep this going!

On Friday I was so surprised and so happy to find my office door decorated beautifully for the holidays. It was covered in wrapping paper with a kind note from the students in Mrs. Kusche's class! It certainly put a smile on my face! It also reminded me of how lucky I am to be the principal of our great school! We have awesome and KIND students at Green Meadow! Tag #26

Friday night my husband and I were greeted at our front door by two young ladies, Keara and Taylor, with smiles and a special treat! Their, act of kindness, was refreshing. My husband and I were eager to spread their word and act of kindness!
A close friend of ours recently had a bone marrow transplant in Boston. He is unable to do any yard or household chores. On Saturday my husband and I raked his yard and stacked firewood for his family. His family was very thankful. He wanted me to tell Mrs. Kusche and her students, "Thank You!" We'll pass this note onto someone else! Card #16

This is a fantastic idea to be teaching. I received a Random Act of Kindness while I was out Friday evening. I came home to freshly baked cookies left for me by a student in your class. This not only brought a smile to my face, but the others in my house as well. They LOVE cookies! Thank you so much :) TAG #2

Dear Mrs. Kusche,
My neighbor, Taylor Prescott, brought over some delicious chocolate chip cookies for me as an act of kindness. I have to say it was such a nice surprise to open the door and have her hand me this container of cookies that she made. It made my day! What a wonderful and thoughtful idea to teach the class to do.
Happy Holidays to you and your class.

What a lovely surprise!!! I was greeted this morning with 2 yummy Jolly Ranchers. The best part is knowing that someone went out of their way to think of me. I love this project and cannot wait to "pass it on."

Hi kids! What a surprise I found on my desk the other day...a sweet note with candy. It really made me smile and helped to brighten up my day. I was having a tough day and someone might have been able to tell since the note said that they thought I could use a little jolliness today. Thank you so much to who ever was thinking of me! You are so thoughtful.

I am an elderly neighbor of Jack D, and I no longer do much cooking or baking --so when Jack brought me home made cookies, they certainly made my day and brought a smile to my face and warmed my heart (and my stomach). Due to repeated eye surgeries I have been unable to pass 'the random act of kindness along. But I will certainly do it later ---kindness is not limited to the holidays. Mrs. K, what a beautiful lesson you have given to your class --may it last a life time. Thank You!

Saturday morning I was at the grocery store having some difficulty pushing my shopping cart through the slushy parking lot. A man helped me push my cart to my car. After he helped me load the groceries he gave me the card for your class. I then learned it was the principal of your school. This is such a nice project you are doing with your students. Thank you.

Dear Mrs. Kusche,
Sorry it took me a week to write something.

I thought it was just a package delivery or a solicitor, so I answered the door begrudgingly. Instead, it was a smiling Emily Marx, in flip flops, in December. What a wonderful surprise. That joy was only surpassed by how happy I was to pass it on to one of my choir members at church!!

Random Acts of Kindness from 2015-2016
Last night while driving home on a very dreary night I stopped at Wendy’s. When I got up to pay the cashier she told me I was all paid for by the car in front of me. She handed me #22 of the Random act of kindness cards. It really brought a smile to my face - not only for the kindness of #22 but knowing I work at a place that is so caring. I love Green Meadow! I will pay it forward over our break and thank you Mrs. Kusche for teaching such a valuable lesson.

What a surprise I had this morning. I asked for my check at the Schodack Diner and that waitress said its been paid for by the woman and her two children in the booth next to you. At first I looked over at the woman and thought wait I don't know you-she just smiled at me. It took a moment for me to digest what just happened. I said to her "you paid my check?". She said "yes" and handed me the random act of kindness card. I wished her a Merry Christmas and left.
While I will absolutely keep it going, I'm going to wait until after the holidays because random acts of kindness should take place all year long.
Thank you Mrs. Kusche and your 4th grade class.

Thursday evening at Starbucks, a sweet girl paid for my husband's and my coffee order. It was totally unexpected, but it made my day. I was so impressed by her clear joy in giving. Her mother deserves credit for such a good daughter. Her example inspired me to buy a Starbucks gift card, which I will give to the first person I see at work tomorrow. I'll pass along the random acts card as well.
My paper was number 15.
Good work Mrs. Kusche for creating a perfect assignment to remind us that most people are kind. Merry Christmas to you and your class.

I was having a tough night until I was getting ready for bed and found a sweet note from my son #19 on my pillow with a chocolate. It made my night so much better to get such a nice note! I will be sure to pass it on!

I'm a member of a church group which visits shut-ins. We were suppose to take cookies to church, to fill bags for the shut-ins. I didn't have time to bake, and went to the store to buy some. The lady behind me, commented that the person who received them, would be very happy. I told her they were for shut-ins. I actually checked out behind her. When I was ready to pay, she said she wanted to pay for them. I felt truly blessed-especially since I knew who would be receiving them. Thank you so much, for this wonderful project. Have a Merry Christmas, and may you be richly blessed for doing for others. I don't know yet how I will pass it on, but I definitely will.

My mother has been ill and is in the hospital. This has been hard on the family particularly at this time of year. I came into work and found a nice hot cup of tea on my desk from a coworker. The card says that it was from #23. Very kind!!

Our family received the best surprise the other night from Jackson W. We were given the most delicious container of brownies (that are already eaten). But , it wasn't the brownies that wowed us the most, it was the fact that we were chosen as jackson's selection. What an honor. We have enjoyed watching Jackson and his siblings grow up. To continue the act of kindness, we will bring something special to the new neighbors that just moved in down the driveway from us. Thanks Jackson!!!

The number i have is 22 and she was a very kind and polite lady who did this. What she didn't know was that the angel she accidentally purchased for for a Christmas Tree in a nursing home that i work for because our resident's didn't have one. so i look at it as really not and accident and every thing happens for a reason. i once again want to say thank you to her and the residents thank her and may you all have A Merry Christmas.

Yesterday morning as I pulled up to the window at Dunkin' Donuts, I was pleasantly surprised to receive card #17 and find out that my morning coffee had been paid for :0) What a nice surprise and a great way to start the day. I then paid for the person behind me to hopefully keep it going. I plan to attach the card to some goodies and place in my mailbox as a surprise for my mailman.
I think this is an awesome project fourth graders and I so enjoyed being a small part of it.
